Software Opportunity Map
Rectangle size = opportunity weight. Color = app density (blue = whitespace, red = crowded). 271 apps classified. Hover to see names, click a subsector to see its apps.
How this map works
The map divides SaaS into 16 sectors and ~120 subsectors based on common product categories. Each subsector has an opportunity weight (15–70) reflecting estimated market size, growth potential, and how underserved the space is — higher weight = bigger rectangle.
Color shows how many apps we've cataloged in each subsector relative to its weight. Deep blue means few or no apps (whitespace), progressing through teal and green (some competition), to yellow and red (crowded). A large blue rectangle is a high-weight category with few known entrants — potentially interesting territory.
The taxonomy and weights were set editorially based on industry analysis and are periodically revised. Apps are classified into subsectors using AI-assisted categorization reviewed by hand.
